Lodging Information for Brownfields 2008

Hotel reservations must be made through the Brownfields 2008 Housing Bureau by April 11, 2008 to receive the discounted rates listed below. Please do not call the hotels to request a reservation. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If your hotel choices are not available, you will be assigned to the next available hotel. All room rates quoted are subject to tax. The tax rate is currently 15% and is subject to change. To receive the government room rate, government participants will be required to show an agency-issued picture identification or official agency travel authorization at the hotel registration desk. If the required forms of identification are not provided at the time of check-in, the hotel will charge the non-government group rate. Current federal government lodging per diem rate in Detroit as of October 1, 2007 is $105.

New Hotel Information:  Non-government guest rooms are now available at the Sheraton Detroit Riverside Hotel.  Reservations must be made with the Sheraton Hotel directly. The Sheraton’s reservation instructions are listed following the Brownfields 2008 Housing Bureau reservation instructions.

Brownfields 2008 Housing Bureau Reservation Instructions:

  • Telephone. No reservations can be made over the telephone.
  • Fax. Send a completed reservation form to Brownfields 2008 Housing Bureau: (313) 202-1846.
  • Mail. Send a completed reservation form and check made payable to DMCVB: DMCVB, Attn: Brownfields 2008 Housing Bureau, 211 W. Fort Street, Suite 1000, Detroit, MI 48226

Reservation Guarantee – All reservations must be guaranteed. Hotel reservations can only be guaranteed with a valid credit or debit card, or a check made payable to DMCVB.  The credit or debit card will not be charged at the time of reservation. The card will be used to guarantee your accommodations up to the first night of arrival. If you do not arrive on your confirmed arrival date, or do not cancel your reservation at least 24 hours prior to arrival (by 3:00 PM ET), the card provided will be charged a one night’s room rate and tax penalty. Checks will be cashed upon receipt. Refunds will be processed for all cancellations received 24 hours prior to arrival (on or before 3:00 PM ET).

Confirmation - After your room is reserved, you will receive a summary of the request via email, fax or mail from the Housing Bureau. Once the hotel confirms the reservation, the actual hotel confirmation number will be provided to you via email, fax or mail. The hotel confirmation number should be used to modify or cancel your reservation. Reservation modifications or cancellations requested on or before April 14, 2008 by 3:00 p.m. ET, should be made through the Housing Bureau by fax to (313)

202-1846 or by email to jfrancis@visitdetroit.com for processing.

Beginning April 15, 2008, all calls should be directed to your assigned hotel regarding any modifications, cancellations or hotel-specific questions.

Sold-out Block Process – All room requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. If your initial hotel preference and/or room type request is not available, the Housing Bureau will go to your next hotel preference and/or room type request, and so forth. If none of your preferences are available, the Housing Bureau will place you in comparable accommodations in the next available hotel shown on the hotel list. If the Housing Bureau cannot place you in the contracted hotels, we will contact you directly.

Cancellations – All room cancellations made on or before April 14, 2008 by 3:00 p.m. ET, must be made through the Housing Bureau by fax to (313) 202-1846 or by email to jfrancis@visitdetroit.com for processing. Beginning April 15, 2008, all calls should be directed to your assigned hotel regarding any changes, cancellations or hotel-specific questions.

Reservation Questions – Housing Bureau representatives will be available for assistance each week Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., ET (excluding holidays).   • Reservation Questions – Call Sonnet Koprulu at (313) 965-0200, extension 3450, for assistance Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time (excluding holidays). 
  • Sold-out Block Process – All room requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
