Work for a state environmental agency? Consider adding these sessions to your personal scheduler.
Greener Cleanups Roundtable: What Are the States Doing?
Monday, May 5 from 10:30 to11:45 a.m.
The Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO) and U.S. EPA organized this session for states to talk to each another and with the feds about ways to make site remediation more sustainable. We’ll touch on regulatory and market barriers, remedy selection, and what resources states need.
The Way You Do the Things You Do: State Brownfields Program Managers and Staff Roundtable
Monday, May 5 from 2:45 to 4 p.m.
Come join members of ASTSWMO’s State Response and Brownfields Program Operations Task Force to discuss the recently completed project “Toolbox for Cleanup and Redevelopment of Sites in Small Cities and Rural Communities” and other topics important to state programs.
Central Challenges: The Midwest States Speak Out
Tuesday, May 6 from 2:45 to 4 p.m.
The Region 5 states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin) will highlight major issues affecting their brownfields programs: institutional control audits and inspections; alternative energy generation at sites; soil brokering; vapor intrusion; mothballed properties; and public health in brownfields. It’s a lot of information, but they’ll talk fast so there will be ample time for questions.
You won’t find any Powerpoint slides at these three sessions, but if you’re looking to connect with state peers, now you know where to go.
