In 2006, the Patriots were at home when the National Brownfields Conference came to Boston and the year before the Broncos were making a run at the playoffs. You're not going to believe who's playing in Detroit the week of the 2008 event.
With the move of the National Brownfields Conference from it's traditional fall slot to the spring, comes a refreshing change of seasons both meteorological and athletic. The 2006 conference was late in the year and hovered on the brink of late autumn and full blown winter. With a date in early May in Michigan, we're hoping that Spring will come early to southern Michigan, because the Tigers are playing at home against none other than the Boston Red Sox. We're trying not to make too much of the karmic symmetry that may or may not be at play here with the teams from the last and the upcoming brownfield conferences meeting squarely during this year's event. But baseball players and fans are traditionally ritualistic and superstitious creatures that don rally caps, step over the foul line chalk, and wear the same pair of socks to extend a hitting streak.
We're expecting a great conference that builds on the continuing success of the last few years. And just to make it interesting, Major League Baseball has thrown us a fastball right out over the plate for those that are interested. Single game tickets go on sale on March 1st at detroit.tigers.mlb.com. Play ball.
